Born in 1984, lives and works in the Paris region. ![]() An artist emerging from the street art movement, Michael Beerens has developed over the years a singular body of work that bridges two seemingly distant worlds: graffiti and the underwater realm. Trained as a professional diver, he literally plunges into the source of his inspiration. This direct experience of the aquatic environment fuels an artistic approach rooted in ecological awareness, but also in a reflection on social bonds and living together. Beerens' works are distinguished by a luminous and contrasted palette, dominated by deep blues, sea greens, and bright highlights. These often monumental compositions evoke the beauty of the marine world while questioning humanity's place within its environment. The artist conceives his murals as "gateways to the sea" — symbolic openings reconnecting the urban space — mineral, noisy, fragmented — with a fluid and harmonious nature. At the heart of this approach, schools of fish occupy a central place. Repeated, moving, united in a collective dance, they become the metaphor of a society capable of evolving together, in listening and complementarity. Through their instinctive coordination, these shoals embody solidarity, balance, and coexistence — values that Beerens transposes to a human scale. Observing their synchronized movements, he sees the image of a fluid coexistence, where each individual finds their place without breaking the harmony of the group. An engaged and educational artist, Michael Beerens also works in schoolsand cultural institutions, offering workshops that combine artistic creation and awareness of marine ecology. Through these exchanges, he extends the message of his murals: to foster awareness of others and of living beings, and to remind us that the beauty of the world — like that of a school of fish — lies in cohesion, respect, and cooperation.
